Have you explored the Alabama Bass Trail? The thirteen lakes that make up the trail are all unique and offer activities at every bend. From fishing and hiking to recreational sports and relaxing, the lakes provide something for everyone to enjoy. Stretching from the Alabama/Tennessee state line down to the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, the Alabama Bass Trail features beautiful surroundings and exciting fishing no matter which lake you visit.

Beginning at the northern tip of the state, Pickwick Lake is known for the Pickwick Dam, but it actually offers almost 48,000 acres of water with plenty of smallmouth bass. While in the area, don’t bypass Joe Wheeler State Park, which surrounds the lake. Hike through the forest to experience the true nature of Alabama.

Heading down the state on the scenic route, you will pass Wheeler Lake, Lake Guntersville, Lewis Smith Lake, Weiss Lake, and Neely Henry Lake.  Stop at each lake to challenge your skills with the popular largemouth bass.

Logan Martin Lake and Lay Lake are nestled in the middle of the state, just minutes from the bustling city of Birmingham. Explore the exciting nightlife and plenty of family-friendly activities there, but also be sure to explore the nearby mountains that run through Alabama.

Head farther south and you will find Lake Martin, known for its gorgeous homes and excellent water activities. Lake Jordan is next on the trail. Recreational anglers stop here to enjoy a relaxing day pursuing many types of bass.

The next stop is Lake Eufaula, known as the “Bass Fishing Capital of the World.” It has been a frequently featured lake in our social media #CatchOfTheDay posts, as many anglers have brought home the big ones when they fish here.

Alabama River, which originates north of Montgomery, is the last trail stop before you reach the Mobile-Tensaw River Delta that sits near the southern tip of the state. Tucked safely in the upper part of the Mobile Bay, the delta is known for its diverse water life and fascinating eco-system. Take a guided tour of the delta and watch for alligators and other unique wildlife.

The Alabama Bass Trail truly offers excitement for everyone. Your adventure awaits when you travel the trail!
