Lake Jordan

Lake Jordan, in rural central Alabama, is a 6,800-acre impoundment on the Coosa River.

Public and private boat ramps, as well as several private marinas, provide access to its rich waters.

Known as a fertile lake for largemouth, spotted and striped bass, many consider Jordan an under-fished lake with plenty of opportunities within its 188 miles of irregular shoreline and varying terrain. The Mitchell Dam tailwaters, with ample bank-fishing access at the upper end of the lake, make this body of water a popular option for casual recreational anglers. Water skiing, jet skiing and other forms of water sports are also enjoyed by many here.

About the Area

In addition to its excellent fishing, this area of the Coosa is also known for “Moccasin Gap,” a series of Class III rapids. Even the most experienced paddler will get a thrill taking to a raft, canoe or kayak here. Off the water, visitors will find Native American settlements and modern-day nature trails at Fort Toulouse and Fort Jackson. For a change of pace, many head to the Wind Creek Casino & Resort for its gaming, dining and entertainment opportunities.
