Put down the tie! Dad doesn’t want that for Father’s Day. Instead, pull out the poles and worms and fire up the boat’s motor on the lake for some great fishing at one of our fabulous lakes along the Alabama Bass Trail.

Already have a favorite spot? How about branching out and trying something new for this special occasion? Plan your trip to include exploration of other great fishing locations.

Maybe you’re not a planner, but you want to provide Dad with a fun experience. Consider this simple itinerary for your fishing adventure:

  • Head to Wheeler Lake, the largest of three manmade reservoirs along the Tennessee River.
  • Grab some bait and last-minute supplies at West End Outdoors or any other fine bait and tackle shops nearby.
  • Choose one of the many marinas and boat launches as your starting point for adventure.
  • After a long day of fishing, treat yourself to one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious BBQ places: Big Bob Gibson BBQ. A fresh brew might also be needed, in which case, you might choose to head over to Athens Alehouse and Cellar.
  • Don’t want to go home yet , orwdo you ant to do it all again soon? Secure reservations at Lucy’s Branch Campground camping RV or any of the other lodging options around the area!

Enjoy Father’s Day right: fishing, beer, BBQ. Sounds pretty perfect, doesn’t it?
