Yes, we are home to the Bass Trail. We lay claim to the Crappie Capital. But did you know Alabama is also known for saltwater fishing? Or beautiful waterfalls? Rock climbing? Cave tours? Mountain biking? Yes, we are. Thousands of visitors to Alabama’s State Parks every season of the year enjoy those activities and oh-so-many more.

Twenty-two in all, the parks of this system are second to none. They are a fantastic showcase of Alabama’s outdoor recreational opportunities and remarkable diversity and Southern hospitality. From one of the longest fishing piers on the Gulf Coast to the foothills of the Appalachian Trail, the parks offer an adventure for everyone.

There is always a state park nearby, no matter where you are on the Alabama Bass Trail. Many parks have excellent fishing spots and easy public access. Our trails aren’t limited to our waterways, though. On land, you’ll find hiking, biking, and horseback-riding trails. Our state parks are also home to many stops and Alabama’s network of birding trails.

Whether you choose to extend your Alabama Bass Trail trip with relaxing family time at a lodge or cabin or with a buddies’ weekend of roughing it at one of the primitive camping areas, you’ll feel right at home. And no matter which activities you choose, you’ll find plenty more options and plenty more reasons to come back and enjoy every season of the year at one or more of Alabama’s fabulous state parks.
