Enjoy hiking and exploring nature along the Alabama Bass Trail.

The Alabama Bass Trail offers thirteen unique lakes full of fun activities, great fishing and breathtaking views! Did you know that many lakes are home to unique birds and animals? Below, we suggest nature watching and hiking on these three lakes along the trail.

Bird Sighting at Lake Guntersville
If you or someone you know enjoys bird watching and nature walks, Lake Guntersville State Park is the place for you. Known for the bald eagles that nest in this area of Alabama, you’ll certainly enjoy nature hiking and biking in its 6,000 acres of woodlands.

Goat Island on Lake Martin
Wild goats in a lake? You read that right! In the past, goats inhabited the island and roamed the woods. Although there are currently no wild goats living there, your family can enjoy a boat ride around the island as well as hiking throughout. See if you can spot any signs of the goats who once called this place their home.

Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge
Enjoy hiking and nature watching in the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge near Lake Eufaula.
This refuge is home to many different species of animals, including the wood stork. This large wading bird that lives near the waters of the lake is classified as a threatened species and is truly remarkable to see.

It’s time to get outdoors and explore these areas to see if you can spot the unique animals associated with them.
