The new year is quickly approaching. While 2023 doesn’t have to mean a new you, why not let it take you to new places?

The Alabama Bass Trail is a popular destination for a reason. The trail includes 13 lakes and rivers, each a prime spot for fishing. Whether you are starting a new tradition or want to find a new spot on the trail, you are sure to find your new favorite fishing locale!

Below are just a few lakes on the trail to get you started on the road – or the water – to something new.

Lake Martin

Lake Martin is famous in the spring and fall, but it’s also one of Alabama’s best wintertime bass fisheries. This lake is among the largest in the country and would be a fabulous option to check out at the beginning of the year.

Lake Guntersville

Visit Lake Guntersville to see why it is known as one of the best bass fishing lakes in the nation. Located at the center of Lake Guntersville State Park, you can also enjoy many off-water adventures while here.

Pickwick Lake

When looking for a spot where smallmouth is plentiful, check out Pickwick Lake. Follow its 50-mile path, and you’ll quickly discover why it has gained such a strong reputation among anglers.

Weiss Lake

For crappie fishing, Weiss Lake is the way to go. There is a reason it’s known as the crappie fishing capital of the world!

Lake Eufaula

In the 1960s and 1970s, Lake Eufaula was known as the “Bass Fishing Capital of the World.” Still today, it’s a prime spot for catching some bass and well worth a visit when on the trail.

Map out your visit along the Alabama Bass Trail for the new year, making sure to experience all the lakes along the trail!
