Whether it’s May for crappie in Eufaula or for bluegill in the Mobile delta, rising spring temperatures mean fishing is hot along the Alabama Bass Trail.

Many say spring is the best season for fishing in Alabama. Anglers have an excellent opportunity to catch crappie, bass and bluegill as water temperatures warm. Many anglers choose to go with a guide early in the season, as these seasoned fishing veterans know when, where and how to target the varieties of catches along the trail.

It’s true, this trail is known for bass and Alabama fishing is known to be good all year long. But experts say larger bass are typically caught early in the season beginning in February and through April, depending on the size and depth of the lake you choose. So why not get out there this spring and try your luck? For some, an added bonus is that mild early spring temperatures make late afternoon and early evening fishing extremely productive, offering a break from the common early morning departures of bass and crappie fishermen.
