Lewis Smith Lake

Most know this as Smith Lake and everybody knows it as the home of numerous world-record catches for spotted bass.

More recently it has become known as a hot spot for fly fishing at night.

A well-rounded reputation like that makes this lake popular with serious anglers from across the country, but it’s just as inviting for the casual fishing trip among friends and family. Located between Huntsville and Birmingham, this 21,000-acre lake includes winding streams and sloughs, and features steep bluffs along much of its 500 miles of shoreline. Numerous marinas, recreation areas and boat ramps offer access to the fine fishing on Smith Lake.
